Legacy Christian Church

There are many opportunities for Service & Outreach through the life of the church

Jail and Prison Ministries
In 2004, under the leadership of Larry Nielsen, Legacy Christian Church of Harrison entered into jail and prison ministry.

The Jail Ministry
Three Sundays a month teams enter the Hamilton County Correctional Facilities to offer worship, pray, guidance, encouragement and friendship to the adults and youth incarcerated there. The team of the week meets at 8:00 Sunday morning in the church parking lot and following a time of prayer, journeys to the facility assigned that day. In 2007 Bob Jacobs took over leadership of this ministry. This continues to be a life changing ministry and is a very exciting and fulfilling ministry.

The Prison Ministry

With Larry Nielsen serving as the Dean and Dr. McConnell serving as the Spiritual Advisor, a Bible Correspondence School has begun under the umbrella of the ministries of Legacy Christian Church of Harrison. Known as Believers Behind Bars, this ministry offers a variety of Bible correspondence courses to men and women inside state and federal prisons all across the country. There are over 200 students enrolled in more than 30 states. Mr. Nielsen sends and receives the lessons and grades the students’ work. Members of the church write letters of friendship and encouragement that are included with the exchange of lessons. Information can be found at http://prisonministry.net/bbbcm.

M25M

One Saturday a month, under the leadership of Tom and Diane Elrod, a large group of people from LCC go to the international headquarters of Matthew 25 Ministries. This ministry ships thousands of tons of food, clothing, shoes and school supplies to those in need all around the globe. Matthew 25 Ministries is an international humanitarian relief organization helping the poorest of the poor locally, regionally, nationally and internationally regardless of race, creed or political persuasion. By rescuing and reusing products from major corporations, manufacturers, hospitals and individuals, Matthew 25: Ministries provides basic necessities, skill development and disaster relief across the US and worldwide. Our team joins others in sorting, packing and readying goods for shipment. To learn more about Matthew 25 Ministries click on www.m25m.org.

Teacher Prayer Ministry

When former teacher, Pam Friermood, began wondering what the church could do to assist teachers in the local school system, the Teacher Prayer Ministry was born. Under her leadership the names and addresses of all of the teachers in the Southwest Local School District were gathered and Dr. McConnell began writing a series of letters of love and encouragement to the teachers. In these letters he informed the teachers that over 150 members of the church had volunteered to pray for them and their students each day. Bill encourages the teachers to e-mail him their prayer requests. The church has been involved in this ministry, first led by Pam Friermood, then Rhonda Kendrick and in the 2007-2008 school year Gina Boatwright took over leadership, for several years. Each year the response from the teachers is more and more positive with several prayer requests coming in each month.

Misssion/Work Teams

Each Summer the church sends out at least two Mission/Work Teams. One is involved in hands on work and ministry at a location in the United States. This summer our team will be going to Sunset Gap, Tennessee. Another team will be serving in Honduras.
